Whether or not you believe it was the goal of the U-S invasion in the first place, oil is certainly key to Iraq's future.

It's also key to U.S. plans for the country.

The Iraqi parliament is passing the oil law and we're going to take a closer look at the fine print.

Under the law, multi-nationals would return to Iraq under production sharing agreements or P-SA's. A kind of contract usually reserved for places where oil is hard to get at and expensive to explore.

Well, Iraq's one of those countries where you stick a straw in the ground and start counting barrels.

We talk to former US ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, who makes the case for the law.

  • This boogieman is capable of murdering few more millions to secure the oil for Bush-Zionists & Co.

Oil, national property of Iraqis. They will never allow an invading force (ever as horrible as US killing machine) to decide how they are going to run their country and how they are going to produce and sell their oil.

  • thanks for the comments

  • US companies taking over other countries' industries has been a racket for almost 60 years. We did it with Chiquita Inc in Guatemala, Sears and other companies in Nicaragua, Saudi Arabia and Brazil now, Iran from 1953-1979, Iraq in the near future, and others. The US has constantly overthrown non-compliant governments and replaces them with a weak puppet, or embezzling dictator. The companies proceed to milk the country of its resources instead of teaching them to run their own industries.

  • reasonable responses?

he was dodging the point half the time.

  • I loved when he had a similiarly arrogant interview with Ayaan Hirsi Ali and she told him "You grew up with Freedom, so you can spit on it" Because he was taking it for granted.

  • Show him, Ambassador Bolton! Avi mouths platitudes to Bolton's brilliant and reasoned responses. I respect Bolton for going on these types of shows. Bolton often says that he goes on Al-Jazeera and other hostile media, so that at least he can be heard. Avi's show, by all accounts, fits this bill.
