Russia wants to set up a military force in the Arctic to protect its national interests. However, officials say this is not a plan to militarise the region. By 2020 Russia believes the region will become its main source for oil and gas.

  • Any Russian military forces who enter Canadian territory will be met with swift violence from the Canadian military and citizens.

  • Arctic belongs to Canada, Russia should only get about 30%. and the US should even be in the arctic in the first place

30-40 year old rusted Russian junk

  • @icantafford Any country that attacks Canada will be met with with a multinational alliance, NATO.

  • @Masterfootballer23 Thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard...

  • @awsomeking5 That's the last thing the EU is going to do, to give it to Canada. Best case scenario is it will divide it evenly. The EU is mostly Germany and France's empire, not British. All the other countries benefit from it but have almost no say. Britain left Canada in 1867 if you don't remember because they had to get rid of some territory.... and Canada at the time seemed much better choice to abandon then Australia or India. Anyway we'll see, we'll have to wait a bit though...

  • @Masterfootballer23 What you don't realize is that the USA might be able to do that to middle-eastern countries but more modernized countries like Canada, wont take that kinda shit. And if the EU gets it, that means Canada gets it or part since Canada is a british common-wealth

  • @awsomeking5 By USA I believe, in any case even if Canada gets the territory you realize that USA is going to take it away from you or force you to sign a treaty where they will get most resources? That's why I'd rather the Russians and the EU get it. I don't like american foreign policy.

  • @Masterfootballer23 its doesn't matter, the conservative party set out a statement basically saying that, the artic is ours and any imvasion of our sovriety will be met with quick and swith defence.

  • @awsomeking5 Since I doubt Canada will put as much commitment in that as Russia my educated guess is their going to expand there. The characters of the two countries are also very re-assuring, while Canada is a Conservative country Russia is expansionist.

  • @awsomeking5 I already answered somewhere else. I`m going to summarize for you: Russia is planning to do it much differently, there is currently no town\city settlement on the ice of the arctic hence it`s considered an uninhabited special treaty territory belonging mostly to Canada. But soon there is going to be one with a pop. of 50,000 russians living in buildings classified as 5 star hotels. That`s basically the russian strategy, then any geographical science will be useless.
