In this video, I will show you how to create more aggressive automatic fan profiles in RivaTuner so that you may sustain higher overclocks, without having to force your graphics card to 100% fan speed at all times.

11/Feb/10 - FAQ

Q: Does RivaTuner have to be in my tray / running for this to work?
A: Yes, it does.

Q: I am missing the fan tab in RivaTuner! It doesn't look like your video
A: Please see the video annotations at 1 minute and 25 seconds onward.

Q: Will this void your manufacturer warranty?
A: No

Q: Does this provide a performance increase?
A: Technically it does, since heat = bad for electrons. A cooler environment means better performing hardware.

Q: Where do i dowload older versions of nVidia or ATi drivers?
A: www.filehippo.com - Search for nVidia or ATi, click on either one, then view the driver list to the right.

Q: Is it bad if i roll back drivers?
A: Unless you specifically need a feature introduced by a driver, rolling back shouldn't cause any technical issues aside from the possibility of slightly reduced performance due to the lack of driver level game optimizations. This is rare, however.

Q: How did you record your desktop?
A: Camstudio. Google it.

  • I made it work now though, thanks! Hope it actually works.. CCC made my fan stay at 25% all time

  • I don't see the forceware :( it just says "Catalyst detected"

  • Thanks for the guide, worked a treat.

  • Thanks for this guide. Saved me gobs of time reading up on profiling m8. :)

  • Probably never would have figured out how to do this without the help of this video. You should also add that background hardware monitoring must be enabled for these profiles to work. I discovered this after running my card up to 90C in Furmark with the fan never going above 40%.

  • @ZiomASek300 probably dust inside the card or something.. I have removed all the dust on the top. i got nVidia gtx 275, and apparently it can handle a few sec on 100+ degrees :P

  • @YstenID how the fuck did you get your gpu 100 degrees??? i swear to get this high your fans would be either dysfunctional or clogged up with dustballs

  • hey how i can back my old version of fan speed ,voltage and temperatur?

i can reinstall win 7 again? its possible? sorry my bad lang

  • very helpful, thank you:)

  • Thanks! Great vid helped me tons :)
