I hope this is coherent...I'm certainly not feeling coherent at the moment

  • Excellent work as per usual.

I see now why you didn't get round to replying to my PM in which I asked for a clarification of your views of causality and The Cosmological Argument.

I am struggling with the concept of randomness. I wonder if we ourselves are capable of random action. I mean, what is creativity? Is it a completely original act? Or it that we just can't see the wheels which set it in motion? If it is original, does it have basis or is it random?

  • pardon my negligence in regards to your PM

I don't get randomness. I think people who talk about it tend not to get it either.

  • Wait so you think of god as a creator or architect?

I go with more of Guitaoist's point of view, I dont really think god has a consciounce or is able to make decisions (maybe). God/higher power/ones/etc.. in my opinion MAY have created the universe OR it could have been CREATED at the same time as the universe.

  • Guitaoist confounds me.

  • Just an observation, but 'creation without decision' sounds like a zen or taoist idea of a successful work of art.

  • it might sound like a concept you're familiar with, but is the concept likely to represent reality?

  • gold two, standing by.

  • Schopenhauer = the Will = creation without accountability, without decision = energy

  • I love philosophy. I've considered so many different majors this year (my first year), but I finally fully decided on a specialization in philosophy.

  • Poetic truths are just as valid as scientific truths. Sounds like your psyche needs a "time out" from logic. Start looking for enchantment. I suggest Jodorowsky's underground classic movies: El Topo and The Holy Mountain. Be sure to get the DVD's with his commentaries.

  • which would be like crossing the beams in ghostbusters, the matter and energy of the cosmos would become unstable if a disappearing virtual massless particle were brought to a standstill, but if there is time at all at that level it fluctuates so maybe the event would just quantum erase itself if we watched something else.

  • oh wait, I'm sorry....did you say the energy of a single discrete particle is planck's constant times frequency? frequency is frequency of waves. Waves have a waveform. They have to if they display an interference pattern. Yep, so if there's no time on the planck scale, pretending there would still be space, we could make quark and gluon freeze pops between the waveforms of light where it is absolute zero.

  • noheats aren't discrete enough for heat.

  • You got it.

  • there is noheat in between the waves but two noheats equal heat... duh.

  • I'm not as educated enough in philosophy, but couldn't we say God created this BECAUSE he was bored?
