I take it this took a lot longer than it looks? It's really difficult to find Breath of Fire IV walkthroughs on Youtube now. People seem to be taking them down. Thanks for uploading this though!

It's all about timing and practice. Try to develop a method of counting the beats and working with the background music to figure out the pattern.
I usually count:
1,2,3
1,2
1
but work with what's best for you.
Remember, fishing is about patience so don't give up!

@italjha36 Ugh... That guy takes forever just to finish one vase. I think it takes about four hours but it might be longer. Best to talk to him, ask him to make it and then go do something else for a while, a long while.

Straights, Tails and Crabs (Don't ask.) count as worm type lures. Using Straights would probably be the best since they're Level 1 and more common. Try checking the stores in the first few towns like Sarai and Chamba. If that doesn't work then try the Manillo Fish Merchants as they usually sell lures.
