The first part of this track is a version of a song that's been with me for a while and has various lyrics in formation....I'll transcribe some of them later; it's one of those "sunrise tomorrow I'm leaving on the train, don't know if I'll see you again" ballads of reproach and longing. The second one, El Dorado, is sung in what is almost Spanish.....and comes in many flavours, often just instrumental. There's some intelligible words in it, I'll transcribe it again later; it's a lament but partly about the quest through the cold mountains of the northwest, looking for the city of gold and finding only hunger and longing for the sunny countries left behind....
Like Blue Sky-Defiance-Party Doll, this was recorded in Clare, Nova Scotia, in Big Mikey Gaudet's garage-cum-jamspace in the village of Concessions, one of the villages that make up Clare, which is part of "la nouvelle acadie" on the beautiful Southwest Shore.
