For comparison, the 2001 french film Amélie. in the US it was given an R rating because of sexual content. In france it was given "U" which is the equivalent of a G.

The media didn't make sex more open, global mixing of cultural ideas did. The media just reflected that.

That's not to say I think it's ALL good, but any complaints about content in the media I have extend back a long way.

I have no problem with sex itself getting more airtime.

And you can feel that way. But the fact is, the world is VERY MUCH different then it was 15 years ago. The media has totally made sex far more open. The way people dress, and the things they say, the foul language, and the amount of violence in general that is shown on a regular day to day basis...

Things are different. People are also different. Nature/Nurture.

oversexualized? please. at 11 years old, most boys are finally figuring out how to masturbate. that's right around the time they'd start getting those kinds of jokes.

remember, puberty doesn't wait until 18 just because that's the age we have assigned someone to be an adult.

It's just a fact of life that sex isn't some sort of concept that nobody under 16 is aware of.
