  • lol i have never watched your videos before your hilarious, weird, and good all at the same time. Just to tell you indeed i have subscribed. Is your strat mexican or american?

  • Thanks much! That guitar is a 1970's USA. (I dig the 70's ones!)

  • So what scale would i use to jam over the 9th chord.

  • The vamp here is mostly over E9, 8th fret- first try E pentatonic (blues scale) then try D major scale (also called E Dorian.) Then try an A major scale (called E mixolydian which sounds like it is probably a skin disease). The only difference here is the G#(major 3rd,also in the chord) from A maj and the G (minor 3rd) from D. They both usually sound cool, even back to back. Also a simple way to add more bounce to the ounce is to accent or start solo phrases on upbeats sometimes.Hope this helps.

  • I've always heard about 9th chords but didn't know what they were. I really liked the lesson and now I'm playing those chords all over the place. They're really easy! One question, how far up my ass should I shove my dog's fist before I use it in jazz?

  • Hellolady80: Thanks, glad it's working out for you! Canine insertion is a hotly debated topic in many music circles - success rates vary wildly, depending on tempo and breed. People frequently turn to Shih Tzus because of their modest size and easygoing personalities. However, some only achieve desired results with very large dogs. In regards to actual measurements, I'd say let your conscience be your guide.

  • OLD SKOOL KOOL!

    LUVIN IT!

  • Awesome vid! I am leaving the vanilla world of 7th chords and I-IV-V and really enjoyed the raw sounds-usually people play effects rather than guitar. Can you do one one a walking bass line? Cheers!

  • amazing!!!
