1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe CSX2601 takes a few lap to celebrate its appearance 44 years ago at Sebring. To be sold at the Mecum Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis, IN, May 15, 2009. See www.Mecum.com for details.
There were only 5 or 6 built. They beat every European super-car of the day. And yet the do not have the same monetary value as a Ferrari of the day it whipped. This one sold for around $7 Million a Ferrari that it beat will sell for three times that amount. Carroll Shelby hiring a young Peter Brock to design and build this creation and the team of mechanics and driver/mechanics proved to the world that the Americans could build and compete with any auto manufacture in the world and beat them.
@ZELPHOR Ironic isn't it that Peter Brock would take his last ride in a Daytona, R.I.P Pete.
