@bweevers you are right...this woman in the first place should have not chosen such an intellectual song. The song deserves an intellectual singer to be able to give justice to it. AT 17 was never a bad song...perhaps it's the singer.

This is a beautiful song, with subtly penetrative lyrics.
But it needs to be performed by a singer. A squeaky toy can't do it.

This woman is not a bad singer (as a matter of fact, she's very good) it's the song, I would drop this out of my repertoire if I were her. Randy and Simon would say the same thing (it's just the wrong song for the particular vocalist). She just needs to pick a different song, that's all. She would do very well with a different ballad such as, Memories (from Cats) or a Moreen McGovern song like the theme from Superman (Can You Read My Mind). :-)
