Believe me you never heard the Tennessee Waltz done this way.At times his voice reminds me of Sam Cooke's.I also was asked about a young lady in one of my older video's So I decided to kill two birds with one stone
I had been searching for this song for quite a while. This is being sung by the Late great Johnny Jones of Augusta, Georgia. Johnny had an outstanding career in the gospel music field as a lead singer with the Swanee Quintet of Augusta, Georgia.
I was fortunate to find a copy of this on the original Fury label in a Greenwich Village record store many years ago. Had never heard it before, but loved it upon first play. The Sam Cooke vocal resemblance in certain places struck me. This reached #49 on Billboard's Soul charts in 1968.
