I agree with mariachirojas, he's missing that depth. rough, darker sound. I say listen to other groups like Sol de Mexico, zvargas or Camperos, then you'll see what a Mariachi trumpeter should sound like.... Aslo is that a Kanstul Mariachi horn that he has?
@HowDareThey1970 Your guess is actually very fitting regarding my musical career. Regardless of my background I have mastered the mariachi style of playing. He should've demonstrated the mariachi style of trumpet playing as he was being interviewed for being a mariachi trumpet player.
@mariachirojas Yeah it doesn't quite sound like mariachi in tone-- my guess would be he trained in classical trumpet and made some forays into jazz and now he gets work in mariachi bands. but to be fair you don't get to hear him very long.
I'm sorry but that isn't mariachi. The tone isn't very bright and there's no depth. Check out the feature video and others on my channel for a better understanding of what mariachi trumpet playing is like.
Thanks! It's such a great video. What a good idea to interview people of the wider public just so. I learnt a lot from it. 4:20 is my fav moment - the laughter of the interviewee followed by a short mexican-style trumpet playing. Great.
did you record this with a potato?
