A new front is opening up in the Darfur conflict with janjaweed militias now targeting villagers in Chad. Thousands are so desperate, they're fleeing to Darfur.

The scattered, broken belongings, abandoned homes and bloodstained ground are all signs of a janjaweed attack. But this is Chad, not Darfur. "It's clear war is spilling over into Chad", laments Olivier Bercault from Human Rights Watch. "Visually, it's exactly the same picture as Darfur." Since January, at least 20,000 Chadian villagers have been forced from their homes. They join the 200,000 refugees from Darfur already inside Chad. As the conflict deepens, the whole area is drifting towards regional war.

  • I'm sure there's always someone to take advantage of situations like these - but the US did not spawn the conflict. US isn't responsible for every bad thing in the world, it's such a hype to believe the conspiracies. The world would know at some point.

  • I don't add it because Fascism+everything=bad.

  • The world does know. Why do you think there is so much hatred toward the US, IMF and World Bank etc.? Not because people don't know whats going on. It's well documented, we just can't do anything about it. Read Noam Chomsky "What Uncle Sam Really Wants before you continue to contribute to the US propoganda. After you have read that book you will likely be embarrassed by your naiivity.

  • Thank the US Govt for those well trained killers. Vote McCain to ensure they continue to be well funded. To find out why simply Read "What Uncle Sam Really Wants" by Noam Chomsky. A blunt, brutally honest book by one of the US leading political science scholars.

  • 1.5 billion barrels in Chad. This is very much about oil.

There is also Uranium in Chad, the shortage of Uranium is the biggest threat to the future of nuclear power. Lots of reasons for the US to instigate violence - guess where the major oil companies developing Chad are from? Don't rely on CNN for anything but lies.

  • oil has nothing to do with this conflict.. its not iraq

  • All the people have the right to leave in peace . Stop the war immediately !
