Some armed force needs to be sent into the region to protect the civilian population, while not interfering in the outcome of the conflict itself directly, and while possibly distributing food and providing decent shelter for these people. The western powers have the money, they just lack the will, what with the focus being solely on profit margins and shareholder contentment levels rather than real human issues. A shameful time...

I would suggest youtube draft a public message to send to the United Nations; requesting that an International Peacekeeping force be sent to help the displaced and persecuted people and ensure the flow and distrubtion of humanitarian aid. The Peacekeeping force would not attempt to overthrow any governments, but simply protect the displaced people.
