I hope both sides learned a thing or two here. I fear not.

@beepIL .. I do not blame the soldiers...The IDF soldiers did what any soldier would do. In fact they did what I would do in that situation. The fault lies with their commanders who ordered them to board that ship. Its a fundamental mistake to send armed soldiers into a volatile situation with unarmed (without guns) civilians and being in Int'l waters makes it worse. The entire world sees it that way. Are Israeli leaders trying to lose the few friends they have???

@matosian42342 the LAW says you can take actions against a ship in international waters if its declaring its intentions to break a siege etc... that's international law for you :) and its exactly what the marmara flotila did, declare their intentions to break the siege, nothing was illegal here as far as i can see, and yes as you said, its an attempted murder lynching someone like that, they had a right to fire, and everyone else in their position would've done the same
-
@weefout ok if you want to talk serious... international law says that if a ship declares its intentions to break a siege you may take actions against it even on international waters, that being said,
metal rods hitting you from 5 people when you are on the ground is an attempted murder, and you have the right to defend yourself, they came there with paintball guns! that's not a way a soldier who wants to kill land on a ship is it?

WTF?! u change the subtext!! the turkish hit the soldiers... they come to talk with them and the turkish hit them the soldiers come with paint gun cus' they don't wanna kill the peopel but after all they want to keep their life and dont die so they must use live ammo

Before you make any assumptions..I am neither Arab, Pro-Palestine nor Anti-Israel...just following the news

I seriously get your point that they clearly were not the most peaceful activist....However, two big mistakes...1) the ship was in international waters 2) the military should have used every means necessary once they were close to leaving international water to try to stop the ship. Using lethal force when confronted with clubs is simply not considered acceptable in world. Especially in Int'l waters. Very hard to change that.

What did they expect, they boarded the ship on international waters, they should be thrown into the water for not obeying international laws!
indeed they were in international waters, but it's well known where they would have gone hadn't isreali navy stopped them.
clubs can kill and that was what that mob tried to do.
