@SuperZathras It would be a good audience and I'd like to see this again. With so many choices now and so many self absorbed younger people, I don't think it would get the same ratings of the 80's. The fact they don't many mini series like these any more supports my observation. I forgot, did Boswick(lady Astor) die or did the sub pick him back up?

This mini series and the previous Winds of War were certainly ahead of their time. Fictional drama and real life history in one great epic. Just in time to break people from their spell of never ending episodes of The Dukes of Hazzard, and B.J. and the Bear, and other dimwitted T.V. ... ad nauseum.

I watched this mini series over twenty years ago. Greatest characters acting in this film, the love story of Jews-[Israel] woman and American servicemen in World War II. Music opening from begin to ended, touching-haunting and amazing -Where can download this full mini series?

Still one of the greatest productions of all time. Any channel that would broadcast this today would have a massive audience

I remember when this was first shown on ITV in the 80s there was a warning before the
arrival at Auschwitz sequence came on as such graphic and harrowing scenes had
rarely been broadcast before on primetime tv. It still has tremendous impact. Jane Seymour and John Gielgud were heartbreakingly good
