First off, Dear Panasonic, you stink. your product is junk and I want my money back. Our Panasonic 42 inch Plasma TV model TH-42PZ80U was just barely 2 years old (2 years old!) when it started showing distortions of red color over the entire screen (2 years old!). It would show up all the time but was most noticeable when darker scenes were shown. It looks kind of like when the Predator was looking for it's prey. Bright neon-ish red. This is totally unacceptable. No TV should last just 2 years. (2 years old!) I have an old GE b&w TV that I bought when I was kid that still works! I think I am the only one out there that has had this happen and I am tired of paying for junk. To fix this hunk of garbage will cost almost as much to buy a new one. Companies that knowingly sell trash should get a swift kick in zee-Oompah! Lawsuit anyone? Of course the 1 year warranty can't help me now. Does anyone out there know if this can be fixed without being gouged by an opportunistic repair shop? I am a bit handy and would like to know what the heck is exactlly going on with this unit. Any tip/suggestion/tutorial would be greatly welcomed? How about you? Did you get suckered too?

  • io have a panasonic tv and like one third of the screen is messed up but the rest is good. can you guys piont me in the right direction?

  • @Travisthehead I really don't know what to tell you, I don't repair these. I just kept looking on YouTube for similar situation as mine and then just posted the video because I was pissed. Looked on forums and troubleshooting searches. Sounds like you have similar problem to many folks out there. Hope you find an answer. If I hear anything I'll pass along.

  • my 2 year old panasonic viera 42 inch plasma is doing that and powering off by itself after a warranty fix 6 months ago and the repair just as you said was as much as buying a new set, I sold it for parts for.

  • @havolia127 did you make any good cash selling the parts?

  • So did you ever get this TV fixed? If so, what part was the problem? This looks very similar to a problem I'm having with my Panasonic plasma (same model as yours).

  • @ajcasperite I sold it to a tv repair guy for $150!

  • @charhe08 Thanks for the info, I'll give it a try.

  • @charhe08 would you mind telling me how to do that or a place that I could resource on how to DIY?

  • @havolia127 Sorry to hear you went through the same thing. Someone sent me a link to the part needed and I might give it a try. for about 60 bucks I can get it fixed, at least I hope. Thanks for commenting.

  • @ArnChiste -No, I have not yet done anything with this. Bought a new set and this has been on the back burner. Someone posted a link to a part, I think I'll give it a try for about 60 bucks I might actually get it to work. Thanks for commenting.
