@singwith I think I rode on the Metro Red Line from Vermont and Wilshire station down to Downtown Los Angeles at Pershing Square

I remember rmy grandparents getting on the Chief to go back to Chicago from the old Santa Fe station there (not the Super Chief; they took the Chief). This was back in the age of F7's and instead of drop arms, the crossing was protected by wigwag Mechanical Flagmen, with the mercury vapor lamps on Del Mar colored yellow at the crossing. How things have changed!

@singwith right i just mean how quickly the new cars accelerate

Sounds like church bells. Amazing Gold Line trains though. I wish I could ride in one. I only rode on the Metro Red Line

@Mozultecania It's nice that I don't have to ride the bus to LA from Pasadena anymore.

I also took the El Capitan from Chicago to Pasadena. Wonder when Amtrak stopped running the Southwest Chief through Pasadena -- and why? (am guessing Santa Fe wanted to get rid of the Second Sub, which they eventually did.

@electroscribe yes, Santa Fe sold it to RTD/MTA. and yes, everything is changed except the old Pasadena depot still standing. It's nice that trains are still running but nothing like used to be. I'd love to see old videos of the line specially between Pasadena and Highland park but guess they are not on youtube.
