  • John Forsythe was so furious after Joan Collins because he was supposed to do the speech and not her that he refused to speak to her for about a year!

  • @Dynastiefr2 It's definitely a very awkward acceptance speech.

  • I feel sorry for Joan.

  • Joan got to the stage first, award shows like to keep things moving. I remember the Emmy incident. Joan did try to take center stage after it had been rehearsed differently. It may have been understood that John would speak for the cast but he got to the stage after almost everyone else. I have spent several years producing fashion shows and live events, my opinion (and you're entitled to yours) is that Joan did the right thing in this situation. John was given the opportunity to speak twice.

  • @scorpio888 I don't see what Joan did to be unprofessional at all. She looked to John Forsythe before she spoke and said "John?" but he wasn't coming to the podium. She also said "Linda?" and Linda Evans wavered far too long for live television. Joan Collins simply didn't want the entire cast to look stupid on live television so she took the lead when the other two didn't. And show me a press release and/or video of the 1984 Emmys and then I'll believe you.

  • But he wasn't coming up to the podium too quick and she did prompt him with "John?"

  • It was definately Joan Collins who made the show work - without her it lacked so many vital primetime ingredients!

  • In 1984, Joan, Linda and Diahann were supposed to give an award during the Emmys. It had been rehearsed, but as they went out to the podium, Joan tried to shove her way into the middle, where Linda was supposed to be.

Joan wound up hopping up and down behind them, frustrated that her maneuvers had failed, while Linda and the audience tried to figure out what the problem was.

The producers issued a statement and explanation the next day, chiding Collins and her unprofessional narcissism.

  • @lol365 Joan was well-known for her unprofessional behavior. How big she was for the show is irrelevant to her behavior here.

  • I am not surprised that Linda stepped forward and was a little gracious, she was going to do that, or so it seemed, a few times. I just do not get the dynamics of them all.
