Me singing. The video I prepared is a morphing of Jack Jones from his young age to an older one and vise-versa. Karaoke lyrics on the video.

Jack Jones (born John Allan Jones in 1938) is an American jazz and pop singer and one of the most popular vocalists of the 1960's. He was rated highly by Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland called him the best jazz singer in the world, although Jones was always a straight pop singer (even when he recorded contemporary material) and rarely ventured in the direction of jazz. Jones won two Grammy Awards. He performs concerts around the world and remains popular in Las Vegas. He recorded "Strangers in the Night" before Sinatra did. Towards the end of the sixties, Jones moved from London Records (in the UK, Kapp Records in the U.S.) to RCA Records, until the eighties, at which time he had changed his appearance from the smooth club entertainer of the 1960's Las Vegas scene to the longhaired singer of the early seventies. In 1979, he moved to MGM Records, recording the famous "Love Boat" theme. His second MGM album featured duets with Maureen McGovern. It was Jones' last album with MGM. Since 1980, he has recorded only a handful of albums, and now performs in various concert arenas and occasionally appears on the supper-club circuit. Jones has acted in several films, namely in the 1959 musical "Juke Box Rhythm". He had a well-publicized relationship with glamorous actress Jill St. John. They were married briefly.

  • Jack Jones is my favorite singer. His vocal delivery, style, breathing, etc.... shows that he is quite possibly the greatest singer ever. And I must compliment you on your recording of this song. You are actually a really, really great singer. Your delivery and breathing technique (and everything else) is seemingly flawless. I can't find anything wrong with it so congratulations on such a fine perfomance. If you were singing back in the 50's and 60's, you'd fit in with the best of them.

  • Thank you very much for your kind compliments on my singing.

I agree with you. His voice is just magical. An example of his awesome voice is his rendition of "The Impossible Dream" and I could say that is the best of all version of that song.

  • Sweet sound!

    Great job! 5*****

    Beautiful, my friend!

Thanks for sharing and Have A Great Sunday, Rolando!

  • Welcome and thank you for wonderful compliments and for the stars.

  • You did a great job on this one Rolando, as usual. Jack was one of my favorite singers of the 60's. I thought his "Strangers in the Night" sounded better Than Sinatra's. However Frank's was the bigger Hit. I particularly liked "Lollipops And Roses", and "Wives and Lovers". Again a great cover By Rolando. 5 *****.....John

  • John, thank you very much for your wonderful comments. We have the same taste for music and what a coincidence, I just finished doing the cover of Lollipops and Roses.

  • Very enjoyable

  • Cliff Richard has recorded the same song with different lyric call Carnival.

  • this is one song that i always love to hear whenever i want to start walking back into my memory lane...always hoping that somewhere along the way i would really met the welcome sight of you... not back in my room crying tears of goodbye..!

  • Yes he is fantastic I would put him right up there with andy williams..

  • Does anyone have a translation of Portuguese to English from the original version?

Just want to see what the words say in Portuguese (a beautiful language).

  • great job! can you send me your instrumental of this? or tell me where you got it because it's very good.

  • Nice voice although I don't like the lyrics in English, nothing to do with the poetic original words in Portuguese...

  • "The Impossible Dream." Yes, it is the song that I first got to know Jack Jones, that and his version of "Sleighride." I completely agree, Jack has the best version of "The Impossible Dream" ever by far. Back to you, you should really think about recording a cd. Your voice really is that amazing. I've checked out some other songs you've sang and they always have you singing great. I'm a fan of yours!!!!!
