Jay Leno's 1970 Cosmo was featured in an episode of Meguiar's Car Crazy which focused on collectible Japanese cars. The car is restored and upgraded with the larger 12A engine. They claim it makes 220HP which is entirely unrealistic for a stock/street port but otherwise it's a neat setup.

its a 12a thats had some porting done it runs a weber and puts out around 200hp it was built by mazdatrix in long beach. You would be shocked at how much power the 12a rx7 raced by allan moffat had back in the early 80's
It's not going to be putting out 200 wheel-HP (which is still a far cry from 220HP claimed on the video) without a bridgeport. And judging by the video (as well as other TV appearances this car has made) its a street port and nowhere near 200HP. Other shows have shown the car being driven around and it looks like a 140HP car, which is far more reasonable. Until Jay runs it on a dyno, 220HP is a bit of a pipe dream.
dude theres hundreds of street port rotors making 220horses.. and your wrong you can redily buy injection set ups for 12a's i should know ive got an injected 12a extended port that makes at least 250hp. but to kensloter do some home work before pretending to sound like you know what you talking about
Flat out BS. It's difficult to get over wheel HP on a 13B with a street port, let alone a 12A. And yes, of course you could upgrade the engine to EFI Jay Leno's car is carbureted so I don't see how it pertains to this video at all. Show me the dyno from your street ported NA 12A making at least 250HP and then I might believe you.
Just updating some of my videos and ran across this comment. Wow...If someone is flaming me, I would appreciate it if they at least spell my name correctly. Also make sure to pick up the book "Street Rotaries" due out this spring to take a look at my car which has "wasted time online".
