Merlin and I attended and obedience show & go to gauge how ready he is to trial. We had 2 runs and I compiled them into one video, so you see the exercise from the first run followed by the same exercise in the second run (except for the stand for exam - no reason to have two of those!). The reason I'm not doing a "fast" portion during the heeling is because I had knee surgery a week prior and running isn't okay yet (which is also why my turns were a little sloppy). I cracked up at the end because from the previous run, Merlin figured out that the judge saying "finish" means I'm going to ask him to heel - I found it amusing because "finish" is not a word in Merlin's vocabulary! :) Something to work on, but very amused at my smart boy :)
Edit - youtube killed the audio so I had to pick something off audioswap. :(
It varies - pretty much whatever the individual dog goes nutty over. Cheese, meat, and smelly dog treats like liver tend to be quite popular. Toys are more "valuable" to some dogs than treats, so it just depends on what your dog wants. You can turn the behavior you want into the key for the dog to earn what they're wanting. :)
