The Kansas City Symphony rehearsing for the first time in Helzberg Hall, Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, May 18, 2011. It marked the first of many acoustic tunings in the hall. In this excerpt, Music Director Michael Stern references Beethoven's First Symphony, a piece he directed as a tryout for the position as music director, and to acoustician, Yasu Toyota who suggested the KC Symphony begin the rehearsal with a familiar work. The Kauffman Center opens in September 2011.
