Traffic congestion on the Highway between Beresfield, Hexham and Sandgate

This highway wasnt too bad 12 months ago, it got busy during peak hour but you were only ever held up if there was an accident (although not uncommon outside hexham bowling club). Main problem is traffic heading towards Newcastle from Maitland and the F3 in the morning, this used to be a 3lane intersection with the hexham bridge, but during a recent "revamp" has been reduced to two lanes for traffic going to Newcastle, not only that, but there have been two sets of traffic lights installed just km's up the road. This stretch of road has recently been announced by the NRMA as one of the worst in the state of NSW.
Maitland is one of the fastest growing suburbs in Australia and with more people commuting to work in Newcastle and living in the west, it is only going to get worse.
