This ultra-Japanese title was a huge hit in Japan for the PC. It was ported to the Famicom by Square in 1985 and only available on a limited number of PC operating systems in the U.S. in 1987. I had this game for DOS back in the day. How does it hold up today? Find out here!

  • When you say you saw it online, was it the Classic Game Room review that you saw?

  • No, I meant that when I saw the Famicom cart for sale online.

  • Man this game was hard, never knew there was a Famicom version. The music sounds like it's missing a whole channel or something, PC version sounds a lot better and is pretty memorable!

  • Yeah, I noticed that as well. The graphics were also lacking something: I think the enemy sprites were the wrong scale, and half the enemies are missing.

  • This just might have to be my first Famicom game. I think it rules.

I thought you were gonna do a video about that crazy fighting game?

  • Ah, I was going to do a video about MUGEN but I had several problems. The biggest was that I couldn't get audio to record properly for the game engine. The next biggest problem was the lack of quality with the open source game characters. I eventually abandoned the project.
