The Falkland Islands took their English name from "Falkland Sound", the channel between the two main islands, which was in turn named after Anthony Cary, 5th Viscount Falkland by Captain John Strong, who landed on the islands in 1690.
Argentina declared independence from Spain in 1816 so how the hell can they claim the Falklands as their territory??????

The Argentine only had several Exocets and that was it. If they had Sidewinders they would have used it, on their Dagger fighter jets.The British had the Sidewinders but no British pilot took off from Herms and Invicible becuase of some trade union action on the part of the war ministry and the fleet air arm so Admiral Woodhouse had to buy some Greek pilots to do the job.
