@StukaFistz correct, grenade launcher option.

Thank you for making this for all of us newbies to the SKS. Great help.

You said crooked end of the recoil spring goes in first. Does this mean the narrow rod first?
Thanks.

good vid, now I know how to realy strip her down, thatnks. On my Norinco, however, the cleaning rod doesn't slide out like the one on your gun, as there is a notched area at the front, Looks like a little prying with a tool might get it out, but not woth a bullet tip haha

Great video helped me out a ton with reasymbling by chinese sks

Thanks a bunch for such a great couple of videos. I went from being scared of taking it apart to feeling completely comfortable. The only thing I might add that was different in my case was that the barrelled action was much tighter and didn't pop right out on mine. On the advice of another video, I took a hammer and slightly tapped the two prongs sticking toward the bottom and eventually got it to come out.

I just cleaned my Chinese SKS and after it was put back together it will not fire. I have taken it a part an oiled the firing trigger mechanism and reinstalled it and it still doesn't fire. The gun was new when I received it as I had to clean cosmalean off the gun completely by taking it apart and cleaning it. now it doesn fire. Any suggestions?

I think my SKS doesn't have a gas regulator. It's a Russian model 1953. Does that make sense that there isn't a gas regulator on some models??

Very informative! Really helped me a lot. Thanks, dude!
I just bought one thanks for the info
just a quick question for you if you can answer this for me

thanks

Excellent !
Except, guns are no more "dangerous" than other power tools like a circular or chain saw, log splitter, concrete saw, nail gun, shear, ram, press, backhoe or truck.
Flawed human operators of all the above are sometimes dangerous and may grievously injure or kill others or themselves.

@Gmissile Exactly. But people don't stop and think how many STUPID people have access to the internet. I wouldn't toss the keys to a backhoe to someone that had never operated equipment without being there to assist, and I wouldn't want some random person that didn't know jack shit about firearms using one of my videos as the sole source of information for their brand new gun.

I am considering purchasing an russian sks for my first rifle (turning 18 in a couple weeks) would you recommend it?
TheMrPrato 1 year ago
@TheMrPrato Absolutely. They're fun and cheap to shoot, and fairly versatile as well. Yugos are pretty pricey now (7-8 years ago they were $125) but will probably continue to increase in value. Russian or Chinese guns are similar in price, but lack the grenade launcher, which makes them slightly handier and better for a truck gun if you wanted to go that route.
