I aquired this improvisation in an unusual way. I worked at Music City in Spokane selling pianos about 17 years ago. I had an Atari computer hooked up thru midi to an electric piano and was recording when, I believe his name was Ernie Dickenson, came in and improvised. I then had a midi file of him and saved it to floppy. So I spent some serious time converting it to a score and learning it. So out of the dust comes a long lost improvisation. I really liked his unusual style. It is a challenge playing someone else's improvisation.
As for bouncy and happy, this was the last song Gershwin wrote before his death and his brother completed the lyric afterward, thinking about him....those words MEAN something.

Love this, kind of a ragtimey feel, much better than the overwrought "contemporary" jazz arrangements so often applied to this song, just about smothering the melody.
