@cacromahhh35 Umm thats were I beg to differ. I hunt private land in the thumb and IF i limit to one mature doe and one mature buck, I lose my farm. I wont have and crops left. I agree one one buck with antler restriction and I agree that 5 tags a day is alot. But I have also seen 225 deer in one field at one time on my property. Also if you dont thin the herd, they starve and become sick and die

Shoulda passed on the little buck and shot a doe, just saying

Hey all you MICHIGAN deer hunters, have you seen a drop in deer population in your area in the last few years? It’s because hunters shoot TO MANY DOES!!! If you hunt private land and can get 5 doe tags a day don’t fill them. Try to limit the number of deer you take. You will see more deer in future years of hunting. It only makes sence. The number of deer you harvest is not a way to show you’re a good hunter, limiting yourself is. Bye only taking maybe one mature doe and buck a year

awesome you hit it right in the dirt star!!
That sounded like a shotgun. Didn't sound like a muzzleloader, or have smoke like a muzzleloader when you shot. I live in Michigan too. The late firearms season is a season for does only, isn't it? I don't remember ever seeing a late season for bucks too. Just out of curiosity, what is it on the ground that their eating?

@jeffamckee Its a semii-auto 308, Its in the UP and i hunt with my tribal license and have extended season so rifle season lasts till the end of the first full week in January for me. And they are eating sugar beats, but baiting IS legal in the UP, although I went to Canada recently to hunt and am planning on changing the whole way I hunt to more of a spot n stalk type deal
