Here is Larisa Dolina singing on a Russian holiday show from 2006. The song is to the tune of "Chattanooga Choo-Choo," but I don't think it is a straight-out translation of the original into Russian. Since I don't actually know the Russian language, I am not certain of this — maybe someone can confirm or contradict my hunch? The show it comes from was full of scenes parodying American movies ... and, apparently, songs. I find it intriguing and entertaining to hear a familiar tune like this sung in a language I don't understand.

  • Dear razpoo10, it is not a translation of the famous Glenn Miller tune. Dolina sings about "all that jazz" and that jazz is a state of soul. Let me know if you need a detailed translation and I will provide it next time. I personally do not like this spoof and do not find it entertaining: the orchestra is barely maintaining the Glenn Miller's structure and arrangement and the lifeless parody on Nicholas brothers dynamite performance is pathetic.

  • Thanks for the info, lenchik! I don't need a detailed translation - just wanted to know if it was actually a translation of the original song. I suspected it was not, and you have confirmed that suspicion - thanks!

  • @oxanabayoul Looks lil bit like Austin Powers dad :D

  • Nice, sans dance routine at end. Band does not do justice to Miller arrangement, but singer really holds it together. Piano player mugging adds nice subtle comedic touch to complete an entertaining video.

  • the guy from the piano he just cracks me up hahahaha

  • this is very .... interesting.

  • Larisa you have a lots a lots of SOUL!

  • You are right, spoof it is. It is a pity though, that it is so typical of Russian pop artists to make a joke out of music.

  • super
