Reenactment of the First Battle of Bull Run. This was the first major battle of the Civil War. In this battle 35,000 Union troops were routed by 29,000 Confederate troops near the town of Manassas, Virginia. Also during this battle, the then-colonel Jackson received his famous nickname of "Stonewall Jackson" because his troops held their ground "like a stone wall." This well-done reenactment took place in Brooksville, Florida (near Tampa) in January 2011. Over 1,500 reenactors participated. Great job!
its like at bull run spectators watched like a picknick

@TheWillowview Actually that has happened. There was a battle in New Market where some of the civilians sat out and watched the fighting from hills.

@JerichoDitch2
By that logic, there should be no reenactments of the Napoleonic Wars, either.

@1stnjgunner This wasn't the 150th. I can't speak for the heat of this reenactment, but I can tell you the 150th was hotter than hell.

great reenactment. due to EXTREME heat, casualties were required to move off to the edge of battlefield out of the sun. that's why there doesn't appear to be many hits

@JerichoDitch2 You would do well to realize Civil War reenactments take place in both the North and the South, and are reenacted by people from every state.

why do southerners insist on re-enacting a war they lost ? you'd think they'd prefer to forget the whole thing.

I like the civilians sitting around eating pic nic lunches, because that really happened.

This is weak.... southern troops consisting of mostly ex- u.s. militia had mostly blue uniforms, not the butternut these amatuers are wearing.
