Pop Bottle Rocket

Many years ago, I purchased a pop bottle rocket launcher. Essentially it's a tube with a mounting point for a bike pump. You partially fill a 2-liter bottle (or any plastic bottle with the same size mouth) with water, pressureize it and pill a string to release it. Like a rocket, the pressurized air expels the water and propels the bottle.

This is my friend Matt doing the honors while I film. We learned that about 1/3 to 1/2 full of water works best. Also, it would automatically launch at about 70psi if you pumped slowly or approaching 100psi if you pumped quickly.

Estimates based on frame rate suggest the bottle accelerating off the pad at 50mph.
