You don't need to be religious to have a kind heart and help others in need. In fact, I think it's better not to have a belief system in the way preventing you from giving 100% because a book restricts your life decisions. If you are a christian, and a muslim person was drowning in the flood waters after Katrina, would you hesitate to through them a rope, just because a book says his beliefs are wrong?

If there is a god or gods what else would a perfect being a perfect father wish then for its children to love, have compassion for, loving kindness for and help every single one of its brothers and sisters. A perfect being would have no desires for self, no needs, no anger no hatred no vengeance no need to be worshiped or have its needs placed before the suffering of even one of its children.. We know beings suffer here and do so greatly, we know they exist lets care for them first.
