  • This method of fighting is clearly a more artistic martial art. Aside from the unarmed portion of the video, hardly any of these moves would be smart to perform on the opponents a normal person would be facing. As for the shooters of this video, I think it would be a good idea to show what unarmed vs armed techniques you have, to display a more self defense idea in order to better justify these teachings. Either way, great video. Real cool.

  • @sputnikdx Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns in a very respectful manner. In these youtube videos we tend to make the moments a bit bigger and more expressive than we do in class, just to make it more enjoyable to watch and a little easier to follow. Also, the "feeder" tends to stand very still we we are filming, as we are moving full speed. In class we spend a lot of time working against non-static opponents, unfortunately, it just doesn't look as clean on film.

  • @LibreFighting do you prefer a fixed blade or folding? just curious.

  • @Grunt922 If I knew I was going into a fight, a fixed blade. It's sturdier and faster to deploy. But there are all kinds of issues that come with carrying one. It will freak people out, law enforcement will always take a closer look at you, they are more awkward to carry, and if you ever have to defend yourself with one it's going to be an uphill battle convincing a jury you weren't looking for trouble. So for everyday use, a folding knife with a good solid locking mechanism is the way to go.

  • In short, after training with us, the last thing someone would ever WANT to do is use a knife on someone. However, if they are forced into that position, they will do what needs to be done as quickly and efficiently as possible. As the old saying goes, "Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6."

  • For the record, we spend a lot of time in class covering the moral, psychological and legal ramifications or using lethal force in class. All of our students are educated in the laws pertaining to carrying blades and using lethal force. They are also shown picture of real knife wounds, so they can see the dangers or what they would be facing in confronting an armed opponent as well as understanding the horror or the wounds they would be inflicting.

  • librefighting are you open to having an authentic master in eskrima do a seminar at your place? he is highly sought after by law enforcement for his knife fighting knowledge. I have studied FMA for over 36 yrs and have never seen a more real approach to eskrima than what this master teaches. he is based in OC, socal and teaches a select group from his backyard. leave me a message and contact info if you want to learn more. with all my respect to you and your group!

  • what is song ?

  • thats a pretty brutal demonstration put on there. If all you are trying to do is defend yourself, a single knife to another person, maybe even 2 is enough. They are going to be bleeding a lot if youve already gotten off a few clean hits. Ive done some krav maga on a trip with this company called lionops. what we were taught was basically to immobilize the other person, or get rid of their weapon so that you can get to safety, or subdue them

  • i want to learn libre fighting. i will ask my master has special knife and i bet he already learn this stuff

  • @LibreFighting The technique looks clean, however I'd use eye protection when practicing with the training devices. The knife training is scary, some of those cuts I would imagine would get you grilled in a courtroom, even if legally defensible. However, I admit they could possible save your life.

  • @LibreFighting you make a good point about the fixed blade giving you trouble in court... what are some manufacturers that make the best folding blades?
