I am going to see her tonight!

Nellie is quite amazing. Singing " off key " is often just a matter of poor monitors, being unable to hear yourself against the music being performed... NO monitors here it would appear.. she's just having some fun with friends. I didn't know who this girl was when I stumbled on her at The Sundance Film Festival a couple of 2 or 3 years ago ( Thanks to ASACP music cafe! ) She just blew me away, her and a piano.... AMAZING.

It's not true that she's not a great singer.
This particular video isn't a good example of how she sounds live. She's just yelling in this instance.
Usually she a surprisingly good singer. I'm often amazed by what comes out of her. Look around a bit and you'll find some better examples of her live singing voice.

Its not a matter of being a critic or dishing out insults. To a trained ear, she really struggles to stay on key in falsetto. Although she is very CUTE and her songs are cleaver, she has a limited vocal range and her vocal immaturity is revealed when she strays too high or low. I assure you, if she was featured as a vocalist next to the technically sabby Coltrane, this would become obvious.

Are you insane? Do you even know what you're talking about? Nellie Mckay can sit down with nothing but a Mic. and a piano and sound better than any artist recording today. Her voice is absolutely amazing.
You would probably say that John Coltrane was not a very good saxophonist.
This is probably not the best example of her singing. She's screwing around with a goofy song which is being performed in a different key than she usually performs it herself. I saw her perform a couple of months ago and she sang everything (including this song) perfectly in pitch.

Untrue. Try to find some of her Threepenny Opera performances. She sings on key and very well.
