  • I did that some time ago too, it was ok and the grater plates worked nice, but the used Rod outside was no good SS.

Interesting jar, but if you can find one withot glass, i would favorite that one, without glass ;o)

    Good luck.

  • Thinking that a glass jar would exlode on you is a misconception...not if the heat is gradual, it won`t burst on you. That`s why I`m favorite of the glass jar.Simple, cheap and easy to make. The jar is from IKEA

  • Ikea ! ;D

  • your plates need to be closer.

  • @sophocha Its not the heat But a Flash back that is bad.If anything should fail between the intake and the cell you will have a glass grenade. I've had plastic blubber's to explode pieces every where.I am not trying to make anyone sound bad Just want people to be SAFE.Thanks.Tec

  • If the Blubber fails and a flash back gets to your cell it will explode and glass is bad.Other than the glass I like your cell.Be safe and keep testing. Thanks for sharing.Tec

  • looks like cheese graters 2 me, they dont last,ok 4 a little bench experiment, need more robust design 4 running in a vehicle! allgood tho, part of the design journey to a good working in vehicle generator.

  • Cool looking experiment. Did you fashion those electrodes, or were they fabricated that way in the first place?

If you get a chance to share more info, it would be nice to know something about the opperating environment.

-type of water and amount of electrolite if any used

    -volts and amps used

-was it dc, ac, PWM or other

    -how much gas production

    ;)
