This was my speech to the Orange County Freethought Alliance conference at U.C.Irvine, 05/19/2012.

There will be much better-quality recordings available in a few weeks, but I don't want to wait, because I haven't been able to post anything in a long time. When the DVD of that event is made available, be sure to see the presentations given by attorney Eddie Tabash and Dr. Richard Carrier. I missed Hector Avalos and Mr. Deity because I had to catch a plane. So I guess I'll have to wait for the DVD too.

"if we didn't come from monkeys, then why are we still monkeys?"

I... I'm left speechless. that was brilliant.

The counter to that is "If god made man from dirt, why is there still dirt?" lmao

Uber, I think you misread the original comment. It's much better than you thought.

Well the bible itself says " God of armies " several times in the old testament. But according to the bible there where no wars at first, so the god of the old testament became a wargod only after the flood according to the bible ;P

If Americans came from England, why are there still English?

If your only answer to everything is godditit, you won't get very far. I don't understand why they can't simply let the rest of us discover all these awesome things and go back to reading their ancient book. Talking about transitional, gods are transitional too, most if not all came from earlier gods, like Yahwey was originally a war god (the bible makes more sense if you know this).

@zenmaster666 Actually, yes. We humans, for example, are Eukaryotes, a group which includes single-celled organisms. Not all Eukaryotes are single-celled, however.

I likely misunderstood the contention of this presentation. I guess Aron was actually saying we are both apes and monkeys not that there is no worthwhile distinction.
