I was helmsman and, I can tell you, it was defininitely not on purpose. I tried several times before capsizing to play with main sheet traveller position to find out whether it would relax bows from pitchpolling tendency but without success. To open main sail just before pitchpole was A BIG MISTAKE :-)

oh yes, i see. its difficult to judge on the vid but i think the other BIG and more important MISTAKE was that your spi was wide open too? looks like it "pulled" the boat into the deep :)))

Very nice and fast technique like you climb back on the boat after touch-down - especially the crew-man. Thumb up!

    thanks peyronimo.

I dont think that gennaker was too opened. In fact crew release the gennaker sheet when bow started to go under water. I think that it was just too much wind. Note that gennaker size is 28 sqm.

Cool video - out of the ordinary

I think the helmsman did the pitchpoling on purpose ;-)
