What awful questions these people asked two of the most successful gymnasts from the USSR. I can think of a list of WAY better questions I would rather ask those two, particularly in 1993.

What an awful design of questions! Those questions were all "controversial" for athletes, especially for those under communist regime! I like though..wanna know how they skillfully responded and they did!!

@Simba85 it show that the soviet coaches taught their gymnasts manners. they had the highest eq i have ever seen from athletes. their answers were always precise and concise, and smart, not to mention about their discipline and behaviour.

Nellie was beautiful when teenager. Not know. Now she looks more chinese. The interviewers don't know the basics. I do not know how they introduced them at the beginning, but the questions shown in the video are hostile. You just can't have a person that was kindly willing to visit your TV show and treat him or her as trash. On an interview, the interviewer must be smily and say nice things to the interviewer just to have a nice time on TV.

I think Boginskaya should have been more bitchy and slap the interviewer.

The Americans in particular idolize Nadia, but she didn't win everything, or every competition. It is insulting to an athlete to be constantly asked about someone else and be made to feel your own accomplishments are denegrated. Look at Jason Lezak's interview with Ed Cunningham of NBC after he helped hte US win the sprint relay. The first question was 'did you win it for Michael Phelps?' - no you dip shit, he raced hard for his team!

I always thought Nellie to be arrogant and rude. She was powerful yes, but to me, Elena Mukhina in 77 and 78 was FAR more great to watch than Nellie ever was. Not only was Nadia way better IMO but I think Ungureanu was as well...
