Jesse Mccartney Acoustic Leavin / Beautiful Soul Cover #689

Fingerstyle acoustic fuse of Leavin with Beautiful soul. Still can't play it after 40 million years, but I figure posting drafts shows my obsession with the song is making very good progress! And if I waited until I was happy with it, Jesse would have dentures and gray hair by the time it's done and you girls would be buying life call buttons. Plus I haven't posted anything for ages.

In my defense of my sanity in working on this song so long, I've had to learn/develop new techniques to translate a pop song to guitar, some of which you don't even see cuz I'm still not doing them right and still can't play them. Mainly, I'm working on developing a solid, steady rhythm with my palm using the guitar as a drum as well as strumming (that I try here in the intro to leavin in the middle of the song).

It's really hard because it's nearly impossible to palm-thump the wood *above* the strings while strumming the chords. I'm not even sure it's really possible. So then I've started banging the bridge instead, which only thumbs 1/4 as well because I'm not hitting the wood, so then I have to hit it four times as hard for you to even hear the thump. I wonder if I'm even cause damage to Tranq (my guitar) by abusing him so much. Time to call the NSPCG.

Also, I created a new tuning I've never played before in, and it can take years to get to know an open tuning. Now that I know it well I can play other things in it more easily. (Any open tuning has a limited number of chords, fingerings, and keys, that maximize its potential, and you have to learn how it works to do anything well in it).

THEN, I'm still figuring out how the hell to record these things. I can perform on stage but I'm still not used to a camera performing for a planet of seven billion people who have access to the song! I've found that to get the slightest good sound quality, my Flip mic has to be RIGHT UP to the guitar and my mouth, and then you can't see my gorgeous pop star gaze directly into your soul... oh wait, that's Jesse.
