Michael McDowell Huge Flip In Texas 2008

Michael McDowell flips after hitting the turn 1 wall at Texas in qualifying. After seeing this, I truly thought he was dead. Kudos to NASCAR for all they've done for safety.

According to reports, the crash sounded like a cannon shot, heard, in the suites, thankfully, he walked away.

One word...HORIBLE! I am a big Nascar Fan but...I never saw this Crasch on Tv! Thank Godness he walked out of this wreck...first he crasched with the front with over 190 mph into the safer barrier & then he flipped multitiple times!!!

I think 4 years ago (still mainly the old car, testing COT) that crash would have been really serious and possibly fatal. The drivers compartment would have crumbled on the old car after that. If you look at Elliott Sadler's big flip at Talladega the cockpit partially collapsed and he had nowhere near the impact McDowell had. All I can say is thank God for technology. (safer barrier, containment seats, stronger cages, most of all the hans device)

If this same crash happened 10 years earlier he would have been dead. No doubt in my mind

Micheal McDowell is a horrible driver, he couldnt even get a top 30 finish in the #18
