The noise coming from the fan (code AB0505HX-J0B,517749-001) of these laptop is due to the position of the fan that spins shaving the internal side of the body shell. Let's see how to eliminate this noise: first of all follow the instructions (provided from HP on its American website) to disassemble the fan; than paste some wedges on the fan, on the side that interfere with the body shell (a pair of layers of insulating tape are enough). Now re-assemble the fan using again insulating tape. Finally re-assemble all the remaining parts of the laptop. Now the fan doesn't interfere with the body shell, and the annoying hum vanishes.
