Unofficial Mario tribute, slowed down 50% for practice. Learn to read notes based on Mario Bros Theme Song. Play along on the piano or keyboard. Intermediate. The purpose of this video is to introduce free programs we can use to practice note reading. The official songs are copyrighted so we can't show them here, but using this information we can search for them and extract the notes ourselves if we want. This video was created on Linux using all free programs, Rosegarden, Awesfx, Audacity, Avidemux and Istanbul.
A good and cheap way to learn piano (and learn to read notes at the same time!) is to get a computer and play around with Linux and Rosegarden or get Studio to Go: http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/getting/. What you do is download any midi file (.mid) from the internet and then open it up in Rosegarden. From there, you can select whatever track(s) and hit the note display button and you will see the sheet music and be able to play along with it. It also helps to adjust the tempo to a speed that is comfortable for you to learn. Once you have practiced a few times, you can gradually increase the tempo until you can play the song naturally. Anyone can play piano, but if you want to play better than average, you should practice the other dynamics of the piece, such as fortissimo and pianissimo.
