In a small town in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo, Mama Nadi both protects and profits from the young women who seek refuge in her rain forest bar and brothel. As the war outside rages, soldiers trade their guns for cold beer, a game of pool and pretty women -- until the revolution arrives at Mama's doorstep.




Rich with humor, hope and humanity, Ruined is the most acclaimed play of 2009, winner of major theatre awards including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The first play in Intiman's five-year International Cycle, it comes to Seattle with the leading original cast members and the design team from director Kate Whoriskey's acclaimed world-premiere production.
