Minecraft - Tutorial: Light Sensor

This tutorial demonstrates and teaches you how to build a Light Sensor. This can be used to detect day and night cycles as a redstone signal.

The Light Sensor is built from 3 main components. A piston is used to control killing grass during the night, and growing grass during the day. A redstone BUD Switch is used to detect grass growing and dying. A T-FlipFlop memory unit keeps track of the day and night cycle.

If it rains during the day, the Light Sensor will still detect it as being day, despite the darker conditions.

@Fallout3sFinest yeah i hate them too, stupid name, stupid looks and they do bearly anything. yeah, they can spend a few more days on them and make them a whole lot better. most NPCs do somthing in other games, depending on the game is whats different, but that should stop jeb and the team to make them do something useful, atleast some weird chat system and can help them in some way. maybe soon a trading system with them that isnt op. but yeah they suck

@unholyraviel1 im sorry i just really hate testificates. first the name bugs me and second they do close to nothing until recently but what they do now seems like amature hour in the coding department. idc who codes minecraft but i wish they'd take a bit more pride in their work. like the cats in 1.2 they act like dogs... not like the mo' creatures mod where they have the personality of a cat. so basically thats why im racist against testificates they were added to say "look NPCs"

@abccdjvhvo45 This is not efficiant, Villagers sometimes go outside at night then go back when they realize it's night.

Sometimes they go in the house at day and stay there for a while

or you could use the villagers, (they now get indoors at night and exit at day light so you could put a presure plate...)
