Here's a few minutes of Hollywood's take on the 1971 D.B. Cooper hijacking, "The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper." There's not room enough here to list all the liberties taken with the facts in this opening sequence of the film (which was never purported to be a docudrama, of course). My favorite "reinterpretation" is how the parachute jump is shown in broad daylight on what appears to be a sunny summer day (actual jump was in darkness on the evening of November 24).

No, that's footage from the actual Cooper jump. There just happened to be a film crew on hand.

The real D.B. was not amused when he saw this crappy movie.

"We have just been ordered to deploy our rear exit hatch?" Total innacuracy. Back in 1971, on this particular 727, you just had to go to the aft staircase and lower it yourself. After this incident, the "Cooper Vane" was installed to prevent skyjackers like D.B. from being able to manually work the back stairs while in flight.

They need a new movie and picture D.B. Cooper in a way like Michael Weston from Burn Notice only with a 1970s atmosphere...

You are right. I stand corrected. I doubt he survived but I hope he did! He was polite and he did not hurt anyone. just the banks and they hurt every one all the time. The movie was fun but it really sucked too! They will never find out who did it and I dig that. I hope he got away and lived a great life, but I doubt it.
