After being at EADS for three to five years employees have to talk to their HR referent about cross divisional, cross functional or geographical changes. People in the engineering community are different from the people in business. Most aren't comfortable moving around in the organization. In Germany and France, people like a secure job that does not change a lot. However, in order to become an executive at EADS people must make two of the following changes: cross divisional, cross functional or geographic.

EADS has also developed a career path for experts. Not all engineers aspire to be upper level managers or executives. Regardless, the development of their skills is just as crucial to the company's success. The expert career path is similar to the management career path, but experts don't have to lead hundreds of people or be responsible for big budgets. This allows for development and advancement opportunities while keeping the employee happy.
