The very best, "how'd he do that", version of this song is one of Steve Goodman's live versions. There are several. A piece de resistance-flatpicked! Steve was faster with a flat pick than I'll ever be with four fingers. You have to hear it to believe it. So while I would normally agree with you---we finger pickers have to stick together---the finest, most musical and "noteful" extant version of this lovely tune was done by Steve, live, with a Fender "medium".
