A Brownsville man remains in custody under a $500,000 bond for the smothering death of a 10-month-old girl.
Pedro Lara, Jr. is expected was arraigned this morning under capital murder charge.
Cameron County Sheriff's deputies tell Action 4 News that the 27-year-old man is confessed to suffocating his girlfriend's 10 month old baby because she would not stop crying.
The investigation began Tuesday night, when the mother found her baby unconscious.
Paramedics were called in, but the baby was unresponsive.
She was pronounced dead at the home.
According to investigators, Lara admitted to breaking the baby's arm after preliminary autopsy results confirmed bruises and broken bones on the baby.
Lara allegedly told investigators the incident happened almost 4 months ago.
The Brownsville man was originally charged with injury to a child but with his confession that charge will be upgraded to capital murder making eligible for the death penalty.
Lara is expected to remain at the Cameron County Jail in Olmito while the investigation into the baby's death continues.
Sheriff Omar Lucio says it will be about 4 to 6 weeks before autopsy results come in.

@bigbuggie5 Yeah, my dad is in prison right now, for a long while. I don't like to talk to him or hang around him. He has never had a good job in his life( he only has worked at small factories or fast food places, and he quits everytime) But, my mom is a drug addict, I have found countless amounts of needles and spoons under her mattress, and places that are good hiding spots, ontop of shelves, in boxes, even in her car glove department. it's sick how people can be in this world.
