Slow motion footage of mercury filmed at 600 and 1200 fr./sec. Mercury is a heavy metal, and is toxic. It has remarkable properties though. Steel and lead actually float on top of it. I would advise against playing with mercury. Protective gloves and eyewear were used in this shoot and extreme caution to keep it contained.

  • This video is awesome :D. this may sound like a stupid question but do you have to have a certain license to obtain mercury? And if not how would you dispose of it properly?

  • @Mrlncredible91 Thanks! I believe it can be sold for laboratory uses, not sure about a licence. I'm sure there are recyclers who accept mercury.

  • I love how 90% of the comments on this video are "Herp derp this guy is stoopid. He shuld be warin' gloves. Hes gunna die derp herp". Come on people I hope you do realize that brief exposure, even direct contact, with Mercury isn't going to give you cancer or cause any sort of medical issue. Its the length of exposure to Mercury that causes sickness and damage to the brain, lungs and heart. Now if this guy goes and plays with mercury bare handed 24/7 then... herp derp he's gonna die.

  • @pr0sn1p3r Some people seem to think that even though I never touch the stuff with my hands, I somehow still need gloves. Definitely get some interesting comments on my mercury videos. lol

  • does anyone read the video description? D:

  • @713ZombieGhoul317 Do they EVER? lol

  • @thecannonball34 *rim of the pool*

  • Why do the iron ball bearings float to the outer rim pool when dropped in?

  • Mercury = Cool

  • looks like physx demo

  • @TheCamcama, under water to prevent the release of vapor - mercury vaporizes at room temperature.

  • Mmmm.. There's always room for mercury!

  • @danthemanzizzle Apparently not. HOWEVER, you must remember this is the internet, where almost no one acts like they have a brain.

  • @TheTash1001 WHAT IS NOE INTERSTING? Too many Fosters or what? , lol.

  • @20vtmk1 my point was mercury poisoning deaths usually aren't from cancer caused by mercury, which is the same as what you said in that the carcinogenicity of mercury is inconclusive, mercury poisoning works through toxic effects caused by inhalation.
